Welcome to Venice

Porta Da Mar

Porta da Mar is located on Riva San Biasio, on the panoramic promenade that runs along the Basin and St Mark’s Square to the Gardens, home to the Biennal Art and Architecture exhibitions.

The windows of the Junior Suites and the balcony of the hall offer a splendid view extending from St Mark’s Square to the Island of San Giorgio, up to the Lido of Venice.

The hotel is surrounded by the most lively and characteristic part of the city among the Calli and Campi of Castello, the most visited district in Venice.

The name Porta da Mar comes from the water entrance to the Venice Arsenal, an ancient complex of shipyards and naval workshops that was the heart of industry of the Republic of Venice.

Rooms

Restored in 2017, all the rooms are finely furnished with precious fabrics and curtains, oak flooring, Murano glass chandeliers and hypoallergenic mattresses.

Porta da Mar has 6 rooms including two Junior Suites with views of St Mark’s Basin. All the rooms have a private bathroom with a large shower, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries, independent air conditioning, an LCD television with international channels, a safe, minibar and Wi-Fi.

“Quale ne l’arzanà de’ Viniziani

bolle l’inverno la tenace pece

a rimpalmare i legni lor non sani,

ché navicar non ponno – in quella vece

chi fa suo legno novo e chi ristoppa

le coste a quel che più vïaggi fece;

chi ribatte da proda e chi da poppa;

altri fa remi e altri volge sarte;

chi terzeruolo e artimon rintoppa -:

tal, non per foco ma per divin’arte,

bollia là giuso una pegola spessa,

che ’nviscava la ripa d’ogne parte.”

Dante Alighieri, Divine Comedy, Inferno XXI, vv 7-18
